HospitALS - developed by H&S Qualità nel Software for Airliquide Healthcare - is an integrated system for the management of the plants installed in hospitals.
The purpose is to guarantee that the flows of information to the customer are readily available, comprehensible and accessible, so to provide - and increase - the quality of the supplies and services delivered.
HospitALS is not a software package to manage the different aspects of the provision, containing applications programmed to carry out tasks independently.
Instead, HospitALS manages in one platform a highly developed service portal that can be used simultaneously by: plants engineers, maintenance staff, as well as the service managers and hospital managers. Each and every one involved is provided with authorizations and personalised and modular interface and analysis' devices.
The main functionalities are represented by the five modules that constitute the portal:
- ALSInventory: Management of vital statistics
- ALSMonitor: Management of plants monitoring
- ALSEvents: Management of communication with the users
- ALSTracer: Management of products provision
- ALSFinance: Communication of account management
All the modules of suite HospitALS are distributed on the Internet network. The access to the modules is permitted only to the authorized users, and the system automatically arranges its functions according to the profile of the user connected.
In other words, the main strengths of HospitALS are the following:
- Data protection and promptness in notifying a state of warning.
- Selective access to the functionalities and data.
- Remote and local plants monitor.
- Centralised alarms management.
- High flexibility in the constitution of the plants.
- Management of vital statistics including characteristics, technical files and planimetric maps for all the technical objects of the plant.
- Relational and hierarchical visualization of the plants: from the overall view to the single component, to the functional dependencies.
- Planning of the maintenance operations on the plants components.
- Multidimensional data analysis and their free derivation.
- Product consumption analysis and analysis of the plant's costs.
The following are the descriptions of the general hardware and software's architecture, the data and analysis models common to all the HospitALS modules.

ALSInventory
The module ALSInventory gathers plant-related information and deals with the programmed and extraordinary maintenance programmes,having the following objective:
- Sharing with the customer complete and updated technical vital statistics.
- Implementation of the offered maintenance service.
- Increasing the speed of the fruition of plant's technical data in relation to maintenance and telemonitoring data.
The main functionalities are:
- Definition of the topological and functional medical structure
- Plants disintegration
- Management of technical vital statistics.
- Management of the maintenance politics and programme
- Data gathering through PDA and barcodes on the spot
- Analysis of the performance of technical objects and maintenance service.
ALSMonitor
The module ALSMonitor is based on the technical vital statistics related to the plant and provided by the module ALSInventory. ALSMonitor cares for tele-detection and monitoring of all the values subjected to measurement by the sensors.
The module is provided with a thoroughly WEB user interface able to visualize the status of the plant and allow the detailed analysis of all the plants components.
The tele-detection and monitoring service is obtained thanks to:
- Signal gathering devices (Couplers/PLC)
- Supervisions based on Industrial PC
- A server group (natinal gathering centre) to gather data and manage the Web interface.
The main functionalities are:
- Setting of the monitor's acceptable thresholds
- Realtime alarms management and communication via SMS, Voice and email
- Management of the medical synoptic outline to visualize the plant situation
- Historical record of the values and the sensors trend
- Management of alarms record and their relative communications.
ALSEvents
The system ALSEvent is the “dashboard” of HospitALS suite, conceived to organize the communication to update the users on the services offered.
The informations coming from other suite components or inserted by the users are displayed as “events” of different kind.
ALSEvent deals with:
- Creation and management of Ticket,
- Management of the intervention requests forwarded to the Call Center
- Notification of the events to the users through web, email, sms, local calls.
- Centralised management of all the events coming from other modules:
- Analysis of the service performance.
In so doing, the customer can share the tracing of the actions, alarms, notifications and events that refer to requests or problem faced during the services provision.
ALSEvents can be configured in many ways to be easily adapted to the customer's requests.
ALSTracer
ALS Tracer is a system of traceability of mobile containers and liquid gas formulated to manage the flow of information in complex and scattered medical structures.
The main purposes of this system are:
- To deal with the flow of information related to the provision service in order to improve it.
- To allow the traceability of the mobile containers and the referable lot.
- To optimize the provision by anticipating the customer's needs.
- To check the quality of the provision in connection with the level o service required by the customer.
Namely, ALS Tracer assists in:
- Managing the customer's orders and packing list
- Managing the planned deliveries and the orders
- Tracing the transfer of the containers to the customer.
- Analysing the use and performance of the supplying service.
ALSFinance
The module ALSFinance of ALSFinance manages the accountability of the provision.
Particularly, it allows the customer to match the invoices of the services traced by the modules ALSInventory and ALSTracer with the consumption figures traced by the module ALSMonitor.
These data are visualized along with the information received from the other HospitALS modules, presented in the form of a report. Specifically:
- ALSInventory
- Performed maintenance interventions
- Material used / Components substituted
- Calibrations / Performed inspections
- ALSTracer
- Delivered liquid materials (delivery address, date and time, amount etc.)
- Gas bottles delivered (size, identification number, code, gas, etc.).
- ALSMonitor
- Total consumptions measured through the consumption of the single liquid gas containers.
- Predetermined reports: report on each product's position and product's category.
